Salary Teleporter
A $85,000 offer means different things in different places. Salary Teleporter shows what your current salary would need to be in another metro to buy roughly the same goods and services, using Regional Price Parities published by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).
Data: BEA RPPs for 2024, released Feb 19, 2026. Last verified: October 16, 2026. Your salary stays in this browser tab.

How it works
Equivalent salary = your salary × (RPP of new metro ÷ RPP of current metro). RPPs express each area's price level as a percentage of the national level (U.S. = 100). Results are estimates based on area averages; your costs may differ. Prices change, and RPP data lags by about a year or more. Taxes are not included.

FAQ
Where does the data come from?
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Price Parities, which measure price-level differences across states and metro areas.
Does this include taxes?
No. RPPs measure prices, not state or local taxes.
Why is housing such a big factor?
BEA publishes a separate RPP for housing rents, which varies far more than other categories across areas.
How current is it?
The current BEA release came out February 19, 2026 and covers 2024. The next is scheduled for December 10, 2026.
Is my city included?
The tool covers metro areas BEA publishes. Smaller towns may fall under a state's nonmetropolitan figure.
Can I use this to negotiate an offer?
It's one data point. Pay ranges, benefits and taxes also matter.
